District Game 6: Perfect Season Completed

At the start of the season, the Lobos wanted to be a perfect 10-0 with a District Championship around their waist heading into the playoffs. Well, the Lobos got just that. The Lobos started the game with a 9-0 record and the only unbeaten team left in District 12-5A. With a blow out victory over the John Tyler Lions, the Lobos clinched the school's 10th perfect season in school history and will look to face North Garland in the first round of the playoffs. The 'Bos started the game a bit slow but defense held strong pushing the Lions back and back and even further back. Until late in the 1st quarter, when the Lobos finally pushed one in. After that everything broke open. The Lobos pull off 27 straight points. The Lions opened the scoring in the second half but the Lobos answered right back with a touchdown of their own and pulled to a 34-7 lead at the end of the third quarter. In the 4th things didnt get any easier as the Lobos and Lions traded touchdowns. But as the game closed the Lobos notched the win with a 80 yard fumble return to the John Tyler 3 yard line and it took one play to push it in for the demanding 48-7 lead.

District Game 5: Lobos Sweep Stallions, Clinch District

In the past 7 years, Longview has gone without a district title. But this year, District 12-5A returns to the home of the Longview Lobos! With a dominating 30-13 win over North Mesquite, the Lobos became the 2004 District Champions. The Lobos started off with a quick drive to put them up 3-0. And thats how the first quarter would end. The Lobos shut down North Mesquite most of the 1st half until North Mesquite put up a great drive but stopped short as the Lobos stood tall and the score tied back up at 3-3. The Lobos returned the favor late in the 2nd quarter and put up a Carlin Freeman 3 yard touchdown and made the score 10-3. As the Lobos kicked it off, the Stallion return team fumbled the ball and the Lobos took over with 15 seconds remaining in the 1st half on the Stallion 15 yard line. In 2 plays the Lobos werent able to punch it in for the touchdown but tacked up 3 more points up on the board and went into the locker room with a 13-3 lead. Back from the half the Lobos held the North Mesquite offense and took back over scoring a 74 yard touchdown and took the 20-3 lead. The North Mesquite Stallions took back over but couldnt punch it in again and kicked another field goal to make the lead 20-6 for the Lobos. The Lobos took back over in the 4th quarter and scored a 48 yard touchdown in one play and took the 27-6 lead. North Mesquite, strugglign to keep a playoff spot alive, finally punched it into the endzone late in the 4th quarter. But it was to late to be as the Lobos tacked on another 3 to close the North Mesquite Stallion's season. The Lobos have now clinched district 12-5A and will play North Garland in the first round of the playoffs. After the John Tyler game next week, Longview and North Garland coaches will flip a coin. If Longview wins, the game will be held at Lobo Stadium in Longview,TX. If North Garland wins the flip, the game will be held at Homer B Stadium in Garland,TX.

Game Day: vs North Mesquite..District Title Clincher?

District 12-5A Champions. 1 win away. Since 1997, no Longview Lobo team has won a district title. Well tonight with a win, the Lobos will not only end the school's 2nd longest run without a district championship but they will be the 2004 District 12-5A Champions. North Mesquite comes into the game, hoping to somehow break into the playoff hunt with a win. North Mesquite would have to win this game as the season's clincher and they would have to have either Robert E Lee or Mesquite lose both of their games. The Lobos with a win would all and more lock up District 12-5A and a 1st seeding in Division 2's playoffs.
In other action, Mesquite and Robert E Lee battle out for playoff positioning. Whoever wins tonight between these two teams will have locked their spot in the playoffs. This game is taking place at Tyler's Rose Stadium.
Also, the Rockwall Yellowjackets look to bring a win home for their fans to enjoy as the John Tyler Lions and Rockwall Yellowjackets battle out. John Tyler is also trying to end a 17 game district losing streak. John Tyler's last district win was over Marshall in the 2001 season.
In Lobo Freshman action, the 'Bos whooped up on the North Mesquite Freshman with a dominating 32-7 win. The Lobos scored first and took a 6-0 lead till the end of the 1st quarter until North Mesquite came back and took the 7-6 lead only 8 seconds into the 2nd quarter. On the kickoff, the Lobos returned the ball all the way back and took the 12-7 lead only 12 seconds later and they never looked back. Racking up 26 unanswered points on the Stallion Freshman. District Game 4: Lobos hold off Jackets/Lobo Band #1 Again

Going into the game the Lobos were predicted to dominate the Yellowjackets. As the games final seconds rolled off the Lobos were just happy to leave Rockwall with another W in the win column. The Lobos were held off as the end of the first quarter read 3-0 Rockwall. But the Lobos came back late in the 2nd quarter to take the lead 7-3 at the half. As the 3rd quarter opened Rockwall came storming out of the gates but as the 3rd quarter came to an end. In the 4th quarter, the two teams traded places back and forth and late in the 4th quarter Rockwall went back on top with a 10-7 lead. Longview wouldnt accept that though as on the next drive the Lobos zoomed down the field in less than two minutes to go back on top 14-10. The Yellowjackets got the ball back with time just under 2 minutes. To end the game the Lobos intercepted the ball and went on to eliminate the Yellowjackets from playoff contention.
In other news, the Mesquite Horn Jaguars are being forced to forfeit their first 7 games due to a player being ineligible. The Jags will forfeit their 14-10 win over Dallas Jesuit and their 7-6 win over Rockwall.
Congratulations to the Lobo Band on winning their State Record 55th Straight UIL I in UIL Competition!

Game Day: Lobos @ Rockwall

Tonight the Lobos of Longview heads back on the road after their thrilling 34-31 Overtime Victory over the Robert E Lee Red Raiders to take on the Yellowjackets of Rockwall. The Lobos, who are off to their best start since the 1997 season when the 'Bos lost to Katy in the State Title game, look to lock district down with win over Rockwall. With a loss, the Yellowjackets would be knocked from the playoff picture. This will be the two team's first meeting since the 1934 meeting, when the Lobos pull it out winning 14-7.
Also tomorrow the John Tyler Lions look to stay alive as the Jaguars of Horn come to town. With a loss, John Tyler would be the 2nd team to be knocked from the playoff picture in district 12-5A. The Jaguars are coming off a depressing come from behind loss to North Mesquite. Horn lead 21-7 at the half before North Mesquite came back to win 27-21.
Also the Robert E Lee Red Raiders look to get back on track. The Red Raiders fell for the first time in district play to the Lobos in overtime in the District 12-5A game of the year. North Mesquite looks to lock up a playoff spot which they would get with a win over the Robert E Lee Red Raiders

District Game 3: Lobos pull OT Victory; Clinch Playoff Berth

Many people expected the Lobos and Red Raiders to be the top two teams in the district. But many didnt expect the game to be as good as it really was. The Longview Lobos and Tyler Lee Red Raiders had everything on the line tonight. The Lobos we're 6-0 and 2-0 in district. The Red Raiders we're 3-2 and 1-0 in district. A Win by one or the other would give them a giantic leap for the district championship. With a win not only would the Lobos clinch the playoffs but would be one win away from winning their first district championship since 1997. As the game started both teams were fired up as could be. Longview came out fast and less than two minutes into scored the first touchdown of the game to put the Lobso up 7-0. But Robert E Lee came right back with a touchdown of their own and made it 7-7. But the Lobos didnt stand down! Right back the Lobos came with another touchdown making the score 14-7 Longview. But it didnt take long. Robert E Lee came right back and scored another touchdown 14-14 was the score. On the next drive the tide changed. On a third down, Carlin Freeman threw it behind his reciever resulting in a fumble and Tyler Lee drove it into the endzone for a Red Raider Touchdown making the score 21-14 late in the 1st quarter. The Lobos and Lee soon turned it down as halftime came and the score remained at 28-21 Robert E Lee. Longview came out bursting and late in the 4th it paid off. Longview scored with 3 minutes remaining in the game to tie it up at 28-28. The Lobos and Raiders were going to overtime! As the Lobos held the Raiders to only a field goal the score sat at 31-28 as the Lobos recieved the ball. But it only took one play for Vondrell McGee to reach the endzone for the Lobo Game Winning Touchdown! LOBOS WIN 34-31!

District Game 1: Domination over Mesquite, Freeman falls

At the start of the game nobody wouldve thought that at the end of the 1st quarter, the Skeeters would be on top. Well thats just about how it was. The Lobos were down 7-3 with 5 seconds remaining. And Mesquite had just been held on three straight plays. But a fake punt cause the Skeeters night to turn all around. The Skeeters faked the punt and threw it straight to a Lobo player who ran it into the end zone to give the Lobos a 10-3 lead at the end of the 1st quarter. But as the end of the 1st quarter ended..The Lobos recieved bad news. Longview's Senior Gordon Freeman fell with a torn ACL and is out for the season. This is the 2nd Lobo that has had their season end because of a Torn ACL. But the Lobos wouldn let that get in their way. The Lobos went on to dominate the rest of the game and finish off as the Lobos notched their first district win of the season with a 35-7 victory over Mesquite. Other scores tonight in 12-5A. Tyler Lee was off while John Tyler got hammered by North Mesquite 34-0. The Yellowjackets pulled off an upset over Rockwall with a 7-6 victory.

Lobos win in OT

On Saturday night the Lobos went into Shreveport with more than 10,000 of their own fans who showed up the Evangel fans in numbers. Evangel who was the home town team had 500 if that in their stands on Saturday. But those who saw it from both sides saw a great game. The Lobos were up 21-14 to start the 4th quarter. But Evangel came back with a little more than 3 minutes left on the clock to tie the game back up at 21. The Lobos got the ball back until held on 4th and 1 near midfield. The Eagles got the ball back with 52 seconds left on the clock but it meant nothing as the Lobos stopped the Eagles to force overtime. In Overtime, the Eagles stuck to what got them there. The Evangel Quarterback who had ran all over the Lobos all game ran for one first down but on the next play the Eagles fumbled the ball and the Lobos recovered. After 3 plays of nothing the Lobos set up for a 43 year field goal! And it went through! The Lobo crowd of 10,000 plus erupted in Shreveport leading the Lobos to 4-0 on the season. The Lobos start district play this Friday againist Mesquite for the 2004 Green Out game. The Lobos will be looking for their first district title since the 1997 season where the Lobos reached the State Championship game only to lose to Katy 24-3. The Lobos are once again the only 12-5A team that has yet to lose a game yet this season.

Lobos dominate, Look to make History Saturday

On Friday night the Longview Lobos became the only undefeated team left in the new 12-5A district by defeating the Wildcats of Lake Highlands 42-13. The Lobos came out fast scoring on 2 quick possessions caused by Wildcat fumbles to move up 14-0 on the Wildcats. But the Wildcats struck back quick scoring early in the 3rd quarter but a missed PAT for the first time this year put some fire into the Lobos who were up 14-6. The Lobos zoomed back and put 2 more touchdowns up on the board before the end of the 1st half to make it 28-6 at the end of the 1st half. The Lobos came back in the 2nd half and hard running up and down on the Wildcats. By the end of the game the Lobos had demolished Lake Highlands 44-13. The Lobos head to Shreveport this Saturday to take on the Eagles of Evangel. If the Lobos beat Evangel this Saturday they'll become the 1st team to beat Evangel three straight years in a row.

'Bos pull off a nail-biter in Neville

The Longview Lobos moved to 2-0 on the young season with a close 14-7 Victory over the Monroe Neville Tigers of Louisana tonight. The win over Neville pulls the Lobos non district regular season winning streak to 12 games and Longview's winning streak over Louisana teams to 5 games. At the end of the 1st quarter, the Lobos found themselves where they were in Marshall down 7-0. But the Lobos came back late in the 2nd quarter to tie the ball game at half time 7-7. In the 2nd half the Lobos and Tigers both fought hard but the Lobos pulled out what needed to be by scoring a 4th quarter touchdown to pull ahead with just over 4 minutes left to play 14-7. Game pictures will be up Sunday with a special gallery of the Southern Methodist University (SMU) vs Texas Tech game also being posted on Sunday. 2nd half proves great for 'Bos Top Marshall

As the Lobos led onto the field to start tonight game againist Marshall nobody thought that Marshall would come out as they did. Marshall stormed out to a 15 to 0 lead over to the Lobos before Longview could get a field goal in. But Marshall let the momentum slip away from them as the Lobos scored 40 unanswered points to top the Marshall Mavericks in a Green Packed Kilgore Stadium 40-15. In 12-5A News..North Mesquite topped Dallas Skyline 28-21. While Rockwall (to North Garland) and Mesquite Horn (to Richardson Berkner) lost. Rockwall lost 23-7 while Horn lost 21-14 in Overtime. Jv Loses close one/Freshman dominate

As the Longivew Lobo Football Season opened with JV and Freshman, Both teams thought they would pull out a win. But Marshall had different plans for Junior Varsity. While Freshman dominated Marshall 37-0 in everyway possible getting all 90 Freshman kids to play in the game JV struggled. But wasnt out for a minute. JV drove the ball down the field as minutes passed by and with 5 seconds remaining in the game and the ball on the 12 yard line looked to win it for the Lobos. But Marshall changed the pace of the game as they tackled the Lobo player on the 2 yard line as time expired as Marshall won the game 10-6. Be sure to get to Kilgore early early tomorrow for the game. Congrats to both Freshman and Jv teams for such a great play.

Offical/'Bos 32nd in Nation
LongviewLoboFootball.cjb.net has just been claimed TexasHsFootball.com's offical Longview Lobo Website! The following is from PrepNation.com..

32nd. Longview (Texas)
The coach: John King (0-0, first year)
2003: Class 5A Bi-District Finalist, 7-4
The record: The Lobos only state championship came in 1937.
The resume: Longview is coming off of back-to-back seasons that could be considered successful, yet disappointing at the same time. The Lobos have had successive wins over Louisiana power Evangel Christian, but injuries and an inability to push past (now former) district rival Lufkin have held them back. The 2004 has seven starters back on a fast and punishing defense led by CB Corderra Hunter (6-3, 190). The offense returns a strong nucleus that features standout WR Malcolm Kelly (6-4, 206).

Other Mentions-
Southlake Carroll 7th
Katy 9th
Evangle Christian 12th
