Lobos end season in Quarterfinals
December 8th, 2007
Longview linebacker Dacorris Ford didn't have a lot to say after his team played Pflugerville on Saturday. Few words were needed, because what Pflugerville did to his team was simple and painful.
Pflugerville ran the ball well, blocked even better and the attempts the Lobos made to rally against the Panthers were defused by their own mistakes.
Totaled up, it gave Pflugerville a surprisingly one-sided, 35-14 win.....Read More.

Welcome to the Quarters, Lobos win 40-21
December 1st, 2007
Two winds hit Leander's football team on Saturday. One was coming from the east, with gusts up to 25 miles per hour.
The other was the breezes the Lions felt when Longview running back Johnny Garrett ran by them
Garrett rushed for a career-high 233 yards and four touchdowns in leading the Lobos past Leander — and the wind from the east.....Read More.

Lobos put revenge aside, beat Colonels
November 24th, 2007
It's been said: Revenge is a dish best served cold.
It was 39 degrees at Texas Stadium on Saturday. That qualifies as a chilly day in Texas, and an appropriate temperature for some revenge for the Longview football team.
Longview got a degree of revenge with a 28-14 victory over South Garland in a Class 5A Division II area playoff. The catalyst for Longview was running back Johnny Garrett....Read More.

Lobos pull out Bi-District victory
November 24th, 2007
Two lost fumbles and a 1-for-6 start for Longview quarterback Damion Lewis hindered the Lobos in the first half of Thursday's Class 5A Division II Region II bi-district football playoff against Dallas W.T. White. Longview's defense, as it has much of the season, picked up the slack.
Longview forced five W.T. White turnovers, including four interceptions, and held the Longhorns to 171 total yards of offense as the Lobos advanced to the area round of the Region II playoffs with a 34-3 win at Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium.
The Lobos (10-1) will take on either Wylie or South Garland in the next round....Read More.

Lobos trash the Jaguars, 38-13
November 2nd, 2007
What Dontray Nelson got playing special teams for Longview's football team on Friday was like getting a steak for dinner. Even though it was a big play, Nelson is hoping it's just an appetizer for what's to come.
Nelson had a 47-yard punt return for a touchdown, one of several big plays Longview had in a 38-13 win over Mesquite Horn before 4,000 spectators at Mesquite Memorial Stadium. With 3:16 left in the second quarter.....Read More.

What happened to Longview quarterback Damion Lewis on Friday played out like an adventure movie. Good things happen to the hero, bad things happen to the hero, but there is a happy ending.

Lobos escape Tyler with win
October 26th, 2007
Friday's Longview-John Tyler football game is a lesson on why records don't matter in rivalry games. It's a lesson the Lobos didn't have to learn with a loss, although for three quarters the Lobos hardly played like winners.
Longview put themselves in a predicament with five turnovers, but the Lobos were saved by their defense and a bizarre special-teams play in a 10-6 win before....Read More.

Oliver comes through for the Lobos
October 19th, 2007
Future plans for Longview's football team were moved up on Friday. Fortunately for the Lobos, the future blended well with the present.
Jonathan Oliver was the future that became the present in helping Longview escape an upset bid by Tyler Lee, 20-12, before 8,500 spectators at Lobo Stadium. Oliver put Longview up for good on a two-yard touchdown run with 7:54 remaining....Read More.

Lobos run streak to 18
October 12th, 2007
Allowing 21 points in a game is usually above-average at best for a football team's defense. It's what Longview's defense gave up on Friday, but considering the offense the Lobos faced, the effort was more solid than average.
Longview kept a normally high-flying offense in check for a 38-21 victory before 7,000 spectators...Read More.

The Streak is Over

The long, hard drive to ending a losing streak was literally a long, hard drive for the Longview football team on Friday.

September 29th, 2007
