It was the first defeat in 19 games for Pete Shotwell's Lobos, operating without the services of Don Fambrough, one of their backfield stand-bys. But it is doubtful if a half dozen Fambroughs would have made any noticeable difference in the score as the Highlanders' charging forwards manhandled the Longview line and, operating behind this fiery front wall, a bevy of polishd backs packed and tossed the ball around in remarkable fashion.

The Highlanders registered 18 first down to the Lobos' six, and might have run up the score even more than they did had their pass receivers held onto perfect shots near or behind the goal line, and had costly fumbles been averted.

Things were rocking along in the first period without a great deal to shout about on either side when Webster Bishop, Highlander quarterback, suddenly broke loose from his team's 35 and galloped down tot eh same spot on the visitors' end of the field before he was dragged down. Co-Captain Hugh Munnell crashed through tackle and wended his way down to the 15. Two plays later, Co-Captain Dick Dwelle feathered a pass into the arms of speeding left end, Johnny Seay, who pranced the remaining couple of yards into the pay-off territory. Dwelle place-kicked the extra point.

The Lobos immediately set about offsetting this edge, driving 45 yards for a touchdown. An aerial shot from Quarterback L. Sapp to Hardy Miller on the ten covered the final 24 yards. Worsham's placement boot, which would have knotted the count momentarily had it been good, was blocked.

The Highlands drove to the 1-yard line early in the second period but yielded the ball to their opponents on a fumble and Longview kicked out to its 37. A nifty lateral pass that wound up finally in the hands of Grady Jordan took jteh ball down to the six. A couple of line smashes advanced the Highlandrs to the one, where they were offside on the ensuing over-the-line dive by Dwelle. After Referee Frank Moon had trudged back to the six with the spheroid, the Highlander razzle-dazzle department went into action again.

Munnell took the ball from center, handed it to Harris on a reverse and latter tossed it out to Jordan, who sped wide around left end for a touchdown. Dwelle's placement bookt stretched the Highlander's advantage to 14 to 6 and it stayed that way until the fourth period after the locals had bolted to the 2-yard line in the third, only to lose their scoring opportunity on another goal-line fumble.

On the second play of the final period, Dwelle faded back and arched a long corner pass downfield from the Longview 39-yard line. Bishop took in the flying leather on the 10 and just kept running. It was a beautiful scoring play that had the fans on their.

Shortly after this spectacular thrust Kleeber Walters, a guard, intercepted a pass from Hardy Miller and galloped down to the seven, from where, after three plays had failed to put the ball over the goal line, Dwelle missed an attempted field goal.

After a Longviewk kick, the Scots found themselves with the leather on the Lobos' 32. Jordan galloped down to the 11 followed by Munnell pushing through center to the two. And then Munnell hit the same point again, his reward being a touchdown. Dwelle's placement boot was blocked, making the final scoreboard figures 26 to 6 for the Humeman.
