Recap
LOBOS ROLL LIONS, 42-7
TYLER - Longview's offense is back on top. In a much needed victory tonight, Longview has clinched a playoff berth for the second year in a row. All that's on Pat Collins mind tonight is the next game versus Robert E. Lee.

"I told the team after the game that the only thing on my mind right now is next week's game versus Robert E. Lee," head coach Pat Collins said. "I'm excited about playing Lee at home as well as playing Lufkin the next week on the road to close out the season. And I know the players are excited and the coaches are excited."

Longview was led by junior runningback Jerrell Willams led all rushers with 126 yards, scoring a pair of TD's. Also, Fred Hawkins tasted the end zone as well as Gordon Freeman off an Armstrong pass.

The option worked well tonight, as the Lobos did not lose any fumbles to John Tyler. Armstrong had a great passing game with 107 yards.

Longview's defense looked extremely strong tonight. LaRandall Mckind had two interceptions tonight which gives him 6 for the season, and James Stephens was the leading tackler for the night.

The defense was wearing a new type of turf shoe tonight which obviously helped the traction of the players.

Senior QB Charlie Stavinoha relieved Armstrong in the fourth quarter with the Lobos up 42-0. The Lobos threw no more passes. John Tyler's only score came with approximately three minutes left in the contest.

The Lobos will face REL next Friday, who is undefeated in district play at 4-0. Lee won tonight in overtime against district rival Lufkin, clinching at least a share of the district crown. Lufkin scored first in overtime.

But in a strange play call, Lufkin's coach Outlaw went for the two point conversion rather than kicking the extra point. Robert E. Lee then scored on its series and kicked the extra point to win the game 21-20.
